As the innovation campus we want to make sure that we bring together and connect industry, academia, public sector, community and international organisations.  We fee very strongly that in order to go far we have to collaborate as much as possible. We have recently formed a partnership with Innovate UK KTN. Innovate UK KTN’s (IUK KTN) Global Alliance Africa is a project funded by UK Aid to drive knowledge transfer and collaboration that foster long-lasting, strategic partnerships between Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa and the UK. In May, the SBIC partnered with Global Alliance Africa to  facilitate a knowledge sharing workshop between key Freeport Saldanha stakeholders in South Africa and UK companies from the Energy and Maritime sector. The purpose of the webinar was to learn about the investment and trading opportunities from the main stakeholders in the Western Cape and connect them to the UK stakeholders.

On the 1st of June, we facilitated a knowledge sharing workshop between key Freeport Saldanha stakeholders in South Africa and UK Catapult Centre representatives with a specific focus on high value manufacturing, Energy Systems, and Offshore Renewables Energy stakeholders. The UK Catapult Network is a network of world-leading technology and innovation centres of excellence established by the UK Government through Innovate UK where the application of research and innovation is accelerated and new technologies are further developed, scaled up and commercialised.
