Zimi Charge wins acceleration programme from the JSE
The SBIC has continued to provide support to the businesses from last year’s EIV event, working alongside our partners. Zimi Charge, one of the companies that pitched for last year’s Energy Investment Village has recently been offered a JSE Acceleration Programme. The JSE was one of the EIV 2022 partners and will continue supporting this year’s event. Their acceleration program is a platform with an ecosystem of advisors, educational enablers and networks that ultimately will enable entrepreneurs to attract the right level of funding. The objective is to enable entrepreneurs to focus on 2-3 key KPIs within the programme timeframe and address these with expert assistance. Start-ups also benefit from a combination of individual mentoring and structured group sessions focused on scaling, capital and funding requirements and operations.
We recorded a podcast with Michael Maas, the CEO of Zimi Charge to hear what he thinks about the opportunity with the JSE, his plans for the future and advise to other start-ups on how to navigate the clean tech ecosystem as an entrepreneur. The Energy Investment Village is four months away!
The Saldanha Bay Innovation Campus is continuing its partnership with the Research Institute for Innovation and Sustainability (RIIS) and Hyve to support the clean tech start-ups and energy projects in Africa via the Energy Investment Village. The Energy Investment Village is the clean energy pitching event hosted by Green Energy Africa Summit, and supported by Anza Capital and Afida.
EIV offers an incredible opportunity for clean-tech start-ups to take part in an exciting high-profile pitch session. The Energy Investment Village will culminate in a Lion’s Den-type pitching event during the GEAS to be held in Cape Town on October 11. The initiative is open to start-ups in the early stages of rolling out clean-tech projects, as well as large-scale energy projects of between 20 MW and 100 MW, requiring finance to get off the ground.
Through EIV, we will connect Africa’s best emerging clean-tech firms in touch with serious funders looking to invest in the sector. Our intention is to become the leading deal platform for clean energy entrepreneurs and investors in South Africa and Africa in the next two to five years. Watch this space!
The EIV programme relies on partnerships. We would like to thank our supporting partners who have collaborated with us, and have promoted the event to their network, and have sponsored prizes to the best project that will be chosen on the pitching day.
We continue to engage strategic partners and seeking sponsorship. We call on organisations that are interested in becoming strategic partners to support its commitment to giving Africa’s clean-tech start-ups and energy projects access to global investors. If you and your company is invested in supporting a cleaner, sustainable future for South Africa and Africa, we want to hear from you.
You can contact Belinda Williams for more information on becoming a strategic partner: Belinda.Williams@hyve.group
